GRACE CHURCH TIME LINE
Spring 1855 Mrs. Martha Dale organized a Methodist Society that later became Barlow UMC
1904 a brush arbor meeting was held in LaCenter, and the LaCenter Methodist Episcopal Church, South was born.
1996 under the leadership of Randy Cooper, the Pleasant Hill Parish was created and approved by the Memphis Annual Conference; linking Barlow, LaCenter and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Churches together.
2001 Leaders from Barlow UMC and LaCenter UMC began meeting to discuss merger.
October 2004 leaders from Barlow UMC and LaCenter UMC listened to a proposal from Craig Robertson, of Spiritual Leadership Inc. about restarting as a new church.
Late 2004 and Spring 2005 Leaders from Barlow UMC and LaCenter UMC began working on preparations for a restart.
May 2005 the people of Barlow UMC and LaCenter UMC came together and decided to form Grace Church.
June 2005 The Memphis Annual Conference dissolved the Pleasant Hill Parish and approved the creation of Grace Church.
Late June 2005 the people of Barlow UMC and LaCenter UMC began worshiping together at Ballard Co. Elementary School and began making preparation for launching Grace Church.
January 2006 land was purchased to later become the home of Grace Church.
January 2006 Grace Church was officially launched.
In 2007 we began making plans to develop our campus and we moved into our new office building on Kentucky Ave.
Currently, the first phase of our campus development is under construction. We plan to move into our new building in May of 2010.
